Terms of Service
These terms are the agreement between your family and Taspara Solutions LLC when you use Bloom. They're written to be read — the plain-language summary below is a faithful map of the full text.
The short version
- Bloom is a planning guide — software your family runs on your own computer, plus supporting services from us. It is not admissions, financial, legal, or immigration advice, and it guarantees no admission, scholarship, or aid outcome.
- Verify before you act. Deadlines, costs, and requirements change; always confirm important details with official sources.
- The student's words must be their own. AI drafts are labeled starting points, not submissions.
- Subscriptions run through Stripe with a free trial; you can cancel any time from the billing portal in the app.
- Your data stays on your computer — the Privacy Policy spells out the little that reaches us.
If the summary and the full terms ever seem to disagree, the full terms govern — but we've tried hard to make sure they don't.
01What Bloom is
What Bloom is
Bloom is a college-guidance companion made by Taspara Solutions LLC ("we", "us"). It has two parts:
- The Bloom app — self-hosted software your family installs and runs on your own computer, where your family's data is stored.
- The Bloom service — our central systems that supply your install with configuration and reference data, software updates, AI request relaying, the encrypted counselor-share relay, sealed document conversion, and (when enabled) email reminders and subscription billing.
By installing or using Bloom, or by accepting these terms in the app, you agree to them. The subscriber must be an adult — a parent or legal guardian — who is responsible for the installation and for supervising its use by their student. Bloom is an independent product and is not affiliated with or endorsed by The Common Application, Inc. or any college.
02License
Your license
We grant your family a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the Bloom app for your own household's college planning while your subscription or other arrangement with us is active. You may not resell, sublicense, or redistribute the software, its images, or the reference data feeds; use them to build a competing service; or attempt to reverse the protections on the software distribution. Your install authenticates to our service with a per-family key and registry credentials — keep them private. You are responsible for the computer Bloom runs on and for who in your household can reach it.
03Planning guide
A planning guide, not a promise
Bloom is a planning guide. It is not admissions consulting, financial, legal, tax, or immigration advice, and using it guarantees no outcome — no admission to any college, no scholarship, no financial aid.
Bloom works hard to be honest about information quality: data cites its source and shows when it was last updated, AI-generated content is labeled, and where Bloom cannot verify a date it asks you to confirm it rather than inventing one. Even so, colleges change deadlines, requirements, costs, and policies without notice — and eligibility rules (especially around immigration status) are complex and shift. Always verify important details with official sources — the college's own website, the scholarship's own rules, FAFSA and state aid authorities — before acting on them. Decisions your family makes remain your family's decisions.
04Integrity
AI features and academic integrity
Bloom's AI features exist to coach, not to ghostwrite. Essays and applications a student submits must be the student's own work in the student's own words. AI-drafted material in Bloom is labeled as a draft and is meant as a starting point the student substantially rewrites. Colleges and the Common Application set their own rules about AI use, and those rules are the student's responsibility — Bloom surfaces known policies, but you must confirm the current ones before submitting. You agree not to use Bloom to misrepresent authorship or to violate a college's application policies.
AI output can be wrong. It is generated by large language models — including third-party providers — and must be reviewed by a human before it is relied on.
05Acceptable use
Acceptable use
Use Bloom lawfully and as intended: for your own family's college planning. You agree not to:
- Share your family key, claim code, or registry credentials outside your household
- Probe, overload, or circumvent the service's rate limits, AI budgets, or authentication
- Attempt to access another family's data or decrypt another student's share links
- Use the AI relay for content unrelated to college planning, or for anything unlawful, harmful, or infringing
- Send feedback reports containing someone else's personal information without their permission
We may suspend service access to protect the service or other families; where practical we will contact you first.
06Your data
Your data and backups
Your family's records live in a database on your own computer, as described in the Privacy Policy. Because we never hold that data, we also cannot recover it for you: the app writes nightly local backups (kept 14 days by default), but the computer, its disk, and any additional backups are your responsibility. Content your family creates in Bloom is yours; these terms give us no rights to it beyond what is needed to operate the relays described in the Privacy Policy.
07Billing
Subscriptions and billing
Paid Bloom subscriptions are billed through Stripe at the price and interval shown at checkout. How it works:
- Free trial. New subscriptions start with a 14-day free trial with full features. Your card is collected at checkout and is first charged when the trial ends; cancel before then and you pay nothing.
- Cancellation. You can cancel any time through the billing portal in the app (or by contacting us). Cancellation stops future charges; Stripe's subscription mechanics govern when access ends after cancellation.
- Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, your install keeps working during a grace period (21 days by default) while you update your payment method; after that, service features that require our servers are suspended until payment resumes. Your local data is untouched either way.
- Changes. If prices or plans change, the change applies from your next billing period, and we will tell you before it does.
Some installs run under an invitation or other direct arrangement with us instead of a subscription; where that's the case, the arrangement's terms apply to billing and the rest of these terms still apply.
08Termination
Termination
You can stop using Bloom at any time by canceling your subscription and removing the installation. We may suspend or end service access for material breach of these terms — including misuse of the relays or nonpayment — as described above. When service access ends, the app's server-dependent features (AI drafting, sharing, updates) stop, but the software and your data remain on your computer. Sections of these terms that by their nature should survive (your data ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, governing law) survive.
09Disclaimers
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
Bloom is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. Without limiting section 03: we do not warrant the accuracy or completeness of college, scholarship, deadline, cost, or eligibility information, or of AI-generated content.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Taspara Solutions LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost opportunities — including missed deadlines, denied applications, or unawarded aid — arising from use of Bloom. Our total liability for all claims arising out of or relating to Bloom is limited to the amounts you paid us for Bloom in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
10Governing law
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Texas. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
11Changes & contact
Changes to these terms, and how to reach us
If we change these terms, we will update this page and its "Last updated" date, and for material changes the app will ask for fresh acceptance before they apply to your install. Continued use after a change takes effect means you accept it.
